    Ideal Second Smaller SOunder

Which of these sounders are ideal for a second sounder - used only for travelling underway?

I will be in Billabongs and long winding rivers with some nasty suprises with longs and moving sandbars, etc...

I do not mind if it is not colour.

I will be using my Furuno 585 as my fishing sounder when i arrive at my destination

I'd pick the Echo 200 it has much higher power, a larger screen and a much higher resolution than the smaller ones, still at a budget price.

Compare the pixels per inch and you'll see what I mean, it will be a lot better to look at where the smaller ones will appear a bit blocky.

What is wrong with using the Furuno?

How did you go with your tank fuel fitting problem?

Have you caught a fish yet?

The 585 will read better at speed then any of those other sounders. If you want to spend more money on another sounder get something with structure scan as it will be of more use to you then any of those other ones.

To be honest I dont know a great deal about them as the shallowest I generally fish in is about 30m and that is not that often, but if I was fishing the rivers and creeks up where you are I think they would be a very valuable bit of kit to aid in finding the fish.
The two brands that spring to mind are Hummingbird and Lowrance but I can't help you out with pricing or which units have the down/side imaging available.
