Hds 8 gen 1 pallete definition help

Gday well just getting ready for the build up up here,i should be reporting all the fish ive caught but things are a bit slow, and should fire up as the water temp is starting to warm up.
    I have a airmar p66 hds 8

its been a while now and i wonder how many Gen 1 HDS are out there. And everyone should have had lots of practice by now i wont even bother with another sounder until i get this one totally worked out.just after settings help please,as its hard to find info on pallets .Any info please on what colour weed is sand is mud is .and of course rock. What settings you use and have found to be the best,i have worked out that the contrast has to be tweaked from time to time, depending on water clarity.
what pallet you think is the best for bottom definition.I have seen every you tube video on this topic so please just after peoples own recommendations.
    Cheers Rob

Thanks Rob. I would also like to know some of those details.
    Cheers, Doug.
Love to use Preditek or Kingfisher lures or Viva Lures when I am out fishing.

Re: Hds 8 gen 1 pallete definition help

Well this informative bloke lives in W.A. AND he was kind enough to pass on his info.

i have dropped a camera down while fishing to have a bit of a look and
on pallet 13 on my hds10 with 1kw i have found in shallow water(30mtrs) that green is weed, brown hard bottom and red coral, which dose match the answers they give in the book as red being a hard return to green soft.

with all that being said, we come across green mixed with brown and we always do well on the fish, i think a bit of weed around helps, sometimes the green fills the screen.
i run the highest possible sens (until you start getting clutter) zoom split and zoomed into 8x, color line adjusted so you can see all colors
these settings usually get me up around 80-95% sens and 70-90 on the colorline.
the scroll is set to fast as well.

i am no expert mate but we do get some good fish so somethings working right!
also we fish small shows and small lumps
    cheers ron
