    Galeforce 4.8 bow mount electric

    Guys,

I just picked up a great used Galeforce 4.8 which is fitted with a Minn Kota 80lb Terrova bow mount co pilot. My delema is that I had been planning to buy a new boat so I also have a brand new 55lb thrust version with I-pilot as well.

Before I break the box on the 55, does anyone running a 55lb have issues with it being under powered for bay use or are you happy with the performance.

    Appreciate any feedback.

It will be ok for still water but it will be underpowered for bay work in my opinion.

Recent boat pics 003.jpgI'm running a 55lb Motorguide on my 4.8 Galey. It's marginal in tidal river situations but fine for impoundments or positioning for fishing soft plastics etc outside. I seem to get about 5 or 6 hrs out of my single 100 a/hr battery but then the 4stroke yammie with the high amp alternator trickle charges between drifts.

Thanks for sharing your experiences guys. After a day on the Bay yesterday, I'll upgrade the 80lb Co pilot to I-pilot and sell the 55lb. As you say SWR Fisher, a little under powered for windy tidal applications.
