Take a Number at the waverider, reefies ?

Made my first trip to the Waverider Bouy after a frustrating start, Camp hill to Manly, no sounder Manly to Camp hill and back again, its usually the boat key so variety is the spice.
Arrived at the Bouy and thought cool no one here, within half an hour there were 6-7 boats , thankfully most seemed to get fish, the first guy after me had pilles and was killing them, toss a handfull and then the one with the hook, sadly had no pillies and they werent taking squid but the juvenile kings were(little buggers know where that bouy cable is) great fun but they werent helpin me with my first dollie, eventually after trying every lure in the box i got a couple on a rapala surface lure, and then another couple on the Rapala Clackin Rap, first time out of the box for these, tried plastics, blades, slices and deep divers for no takes.
Tried a couple of close by marks off this forum but couldnt find a show or lose a bait, plenty of boats out. did anyone do any good on the reefies?
Must admit the Dolphin fish is a spectacular fish in the flesh, would love to catch a decent one oneday.

Hey mate, it's a shame you didn't get on but that's definitely the best way to catch them, with a burley up and then a loaded pillie piece, you can catch quite a few.

The other way i've picked them up around the FAD's and waverider's is to troll small squid skirts they jump on those too.

Anyway next time you try definitely take the pillies.

    Cheers,
    Leon.

We were at Caloundra wide yesterday. The weather was Great the fish didnt want to play. I swear we'll never go just after the full moon again. Did manage a dozen under size Pearlies on the Sid Vicious plastics in the pink and white. Man those things are RED hot on the pearlies when you use the articulated jig heads.
    Bring on the new moon..

Yeah as the guys said you need to have pillies on board I went out on a mate's boat and we bought about 25 dollies up in about 40mins awsome fun to catch.
