lowrance elite 5 fishfinder/chartplotter update problem

Hi guys, hope someone can help, i have just downloaded an updatefor lowranc elite 5 to a separate card, removed navionics card and installed the update card. it asked if i wanted to install, so followed the prompts and thought it was finished. now i don,t have any charts displayed, sounder works fine, but no charts/gps, tried to restore default setting , but there isn,t any change WTF? does anyone have any ideas? thanks, roy

This happened to me Roy, hope I'm talking about the same problem, but if I am go menu/ settings/chart and make sure the chart data has Navionics selected..

Hi I updated mine recently- ( Elite combo) - then I had no chart- It turned out I didnt have the card fully insert- der- small slots and stubby fingers. Lowrance have a help line- number via websiite- they were pretty good have a help.

Thanks lew, checked that one too, when i start the unit i get a map of the usa, then when it gets a signal, a map showing position in brisbane, but nothing else, no charts, so will try and give em a call, thanks, roy

Hey bingo, is it fixed? yep do i know how i did it? nup.........mmmmmm
Rang lowrance as suggested, went through a whole heap of things, but nothing really happened, other than to verify that my update had been effective and the correct version was running, but still not working....i.e. no charts showing. lowrance suggested to re download and install update again, so gave that a go...... well..... delete update files on card, redownloaded update, but instead of going to download file it went straight to card, that is not normal , so tried to delete file, wouldn,t delete, what do i do now..... put navionics card back in, rolled boat out of garage to let gps find satellites and after a while got gps position and was able to see charts, took tinny out today and worked perfectly, so what happened? duh ...i don,t know other than its been a pain in the ars.....was going to update maps, but don,t know if i can stand the aggro, thanks everyone for your input.. cheers , roy

hey jason , sorry ,just saw your post, only thing i can say is start the whole process again and reupdate and make sure your boat is outside so it can pick up satellites for initial start up, hope this helps, mine has been fine since, let me know how you go,cheers, roy
