I bought one in for a mate several weeks ago and he hasn't stopped raving about it yet.
I have not seen it working myself though so I cannot really comment on the unit itself.
I did ask him for some pictures the other day and he had not taken any so I cannot even help you out there.
Going on what he says though,it's the best thing he has bought for his boat yet.
got one too ,and I had it only ones on water so far and I like it ,I like it
easy to use , crisp clean picture, god read at speed
I'm still learning and tuning to it
I think to get unit to work for money you pay for , it need 1kw tranduser
Is the 1kw worth the extra coin in shallow water to say 40m
Also looking at the hummingbird 998 more for structure scan and gps
Ive had mine for about 6 weeks now and loving it but still tuning it also
thanks dave
I had one of the Hummingbird combos before on one of my BC560,
and if you asking me for my honest opinion...
I can tall you ,if you going to use the boat for prawns, bass and Bara fishing.
They are the top units.
For Deep sea and salt water,
get a furuno or something else.

The bottom material thing has got to be a good thing. The main thing they could do to them to make them better is make the low frequency gain independant of the high frequency gain like the Kodens and JRCs. Less having to go into menus would be better too. The only thing is the Furuno is still the sharpest price over the CVS-128 and the FF60 and the FF60 isn't a 1kw unit.
Have to have a matching transducer to get the bottom thing working.
Is the 1kw tranny worht the money in the shallow water. will it be better than the 600w in depths to say 40m
My 627 is very clear to 60m with standard 600w tranny and can't see why it won't go to 100m+. In fact there is no difference with bottom lock in 20m or 60m.

Before I put in the M260 1 kw job on the 585 I was using a P66 600w triducer, clear as a bell in 160~190m fishing a wreck of South West Rocks, the 587 would have to be as good if not better.
