cant read backup waypoints - Raymarine a65

Have just done a backup of the gazillion marks on my a65
I cant open the " .FSH " file that it has created on the compact flash card.

I have downloaded the free rayplanner 6.0 software but it cannot open the file.

I have done it on two different cf cards and same result for both

I can see all the waypoints on the a 65 but it has decided now that it wont read any satellites so it cant gain a fix.

I was backing up, as the boat is going in to get a new donk tomorrow and I wanted to play it safe. I fear the end may be nearer than I thought for the raymarine. I think I have the points on the cf card, and have a card reader but just cant access the info.

Any helpful suggestions???

You can get plenty of used C series out of the US at a good price. I would imagine that a Cf card would read on a C series but a call to Ray in Sydney may help.
Idea...... my C80 can only handle a certain size card. It is not handy so I can't check. I had to get my CF card from some obscure site that still had older, smaller cards. That may be your problem. Your A65 manual should have the info re card size.

I put the cf cards back into the unit and deleted an old waypoint them reloaded it and it appears that all bar the last few months are saved.
The cards are 1 Gb . Interesting that the navionics gold XL9 is only 256 Mb

There used to be a raymarine installer / service guy down at birkdale but I think he went mining. Who looks after these things now . I am on Brissie northside

Give Raymarine in Sydney a call. I have found their tech guys very helpful. I am not sure if Trymax is a Ray dealer.

I will call sydney tomorrow, and yep ,Trymax are ,and are mobile too ( They are a long way from me!)
Funny how the timing has worked out, still lots better than out at Fitzroy at night eh!

Yep the cards were Sandisk. Apparently there size has been highlighted in the past as an issue, but my 1 Gb seemed to do OK

I Guess its worth asking if anyone has any ideas on the NO FIX situation.
Raystar antenna is plugged in OK, unit is getting power. It is not exporting any Gps data either ( Logically I guess)
Any Ideas?

Hi Tenzig

Try and copy the .FSH file into the 'archive' folder that is on your C drive, here is the address of mine 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Raymarine\Raymarine RayTech Navigator\Archive'. Then use the menus withtin the Raytech software to import from file (this folder is the default location it will search).

Are you removing the card correctly from the A65? If not go through the menus and try that.

Also as a side note im using a 4GB card and havnt had any issues with that apart from the usual gripe that the Raytech software is utter crap.

Yes the problem was the older version of Ray Tech I was running.
Also I got a reply from the tech on the raymarine tech forum who suggested new aerial spliced in to NMEA in, not the GPS port. The guys at whitworths agree.
As boat is in shop cant try anything yet.
