    Hows the Radar going?
Hey John, 5012 will fit but not with the 620 thats there as well.. radar is great, glad I got it. It has its limitations but will pick up small glass boats from about 1.5 - 2 nm away. Thats good enough for me. Alloy I can see way further away. How have you found yours?

haha hope you don't mind I pinched your pic, too lazy to take one myself

Get a LCD flat screen. Any computer screen or tv will do. Cut the plug off and they are 12V already. Just got to check what outputs you have from the Navnet module. Most stuff has VGA output. On big boats they run their GPS and sounders to the TV set all the time so the customers or crew can see where they are or how deep it is etc. Cheap as! One step up, a daylight viewable LCD. Marine MFDs (Multi Function Displays) are a rip off. I regularly go in a boat running Furuno Max Sea software on a solid state computer to a daylight viewable LCD so there is no fan blowing the salt air around all in a 6m centre console. A Panasonic Tough Book or similar computer would be the go in the boat environment. Pick up ex Telstra ones etc. cheap as chips.

Hi Smithy. how waterproof are these units. this sounds like the go to me. Been looking at navnet stuff for a while but the screen is the killer for price.

    cheers

Not properly waterproof like a MFD but depends on your setup and how waterproof it all is.

Or say a MFD is going to be $3K for instance. You could go out with a brand new $100 computer monitor on 30 trips!

What you see on a lot of game boat bridges is get a trimmer to make you up clear vinyl protectors. I've seen them over engine gauges, monitors, keypads, whatever to give them a little bit more water proofness. No reason you can't do that on trailerboats.
