First time out jumpinpin tomorrow advice on bar?
Hi Guys
We are from Goldy and we always go out Tweed or Currumbin and was just wondering which is the best way out of the pin.
Had a look at a few photos and there seems to be a north and south passage?
Swell is small so we should be all good in the channel right?
Hoping for a fun day out

The last time I went through the channel from north to south closed up so I ended up heading east. Can't give you co ords as my combo has shit itself.

Hi if you cant follow Mark Johno i can fix you up with route marks that give a good general route out being aware this bar changes and in my opinion only i think flood tide close to high with little swell is the best way to have a good look at this bar first up, PM sent.

Went through on Wednesday (show day) and the previous Sunday, came throug on two ocassions at the bottom of the tide. When approaching the bar at about the Swan bay entrance keep to the left in the deep water, head basically due east staying in about 4m of water. As you look in the distance you will see breaking waves on the outer bank, keep heading towards these waves. When you are about 100-150m off the beach look left and you will be behind the breakers, at this point I turn left and avoid that outer bank and shoot out from there. Alternatively you can head straight towards that outer bank and just time your crossing of them, they don't roll for very far.
Enjoy it.

By the way, log in with Jacobs Well VMR BEFORE you go across, been some nasty rollovers on that bar and no fish is worth it, there is a truck load of water that goes through there on every tide. I've turned around and not crossed before if I'm uncertain on things, better to head down the inside of South Straddy and go through the seawy.

i just go on the run in tide and make sure there isnt too much swell. when you get to the bar i just look for where there isnt any whitecaps....its pretty simple.

So if you were logged on to Manly for the day trip would you also log on to Jacobs well just for the actual bar crossing?
