Question can I add a extension cable to make a nmea 2000 to seatalk ng cable longer or do I need to extend my backbone then connect to the t

It is better to extend the back bone rather than the device cable. Not sure on the details of your device, but the garmin NMEA2000 network documentation has some calculations for cable lengths.

shy guys,
Backbone 10 metres, drops up to 6 meters, so yes you can use drops, just dont use a large number of them. Reference (which is pretty good actually), there is a formula to work out the voltage drop.

You can buy the required extension cables that go from your existing T connector and present as NMEA2K. Your NMEA2K to Seatalk cable will then plug from there to your Raymarine unit.
I had Wynnum order mine in and got it within 3 days other suggestion would be Whitworths.
