Good luck with the repairs.
Looks like "Old Yella" will need to step up coming few weeks.
We are due for another Moreton trip.
3 years ago I had an issue with an oil leak from my Hydro lift assist on my 50hp 2stroke motor. To cut a long story short, no parts in Aus, 2 months delivery time, I was going on holidays before that, local dealer couldnt do anything, so I jumped up and down got the attention of Yamaha in Sydney and I had a unit supplied from a motor in stock.
My problem now is that this brand new unit has failed again 3 years later with the same issue when I was told that quote "We apologise for the inconvenience, but as these units have no known problems and have proved to be extremely reliable. As well, there has been no units damaged by accidental collisions, it has not been necessary to carry any replacement units in stock." Why has mine failed 2 times in 3 years then?
I dont believe this is fair wear and tear, that is a manufacturing fault and that Yamaha should wear the cost this time.
Im really hoping they can fix this as I have holidays again in September and there is no way I can hope to afford to fix the same problem again without saving for months.
Thread from last time ---> http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...-Thanks-YAMAHA

Teach a man to fish and he'll endanger an entire species

So what part exactly died in the guts?
If it was just a seal!! there's plenty of bearing and seal places that would have an almost identical seal I have had to go this route a few times my self.
Cheers
A marriage licence should be like your fishing licence!
Expires every year and you get a 3 day pass when you go interstate.
Yes Max old yella might get a workout
Roughasguts - I thought it was just a seal too first time, there is oil leaking from the ram and there is movement suggesting air has gotten in, last time it happened they replaced the whole unit as I was told it is not able to be fixed.

Hmmm interesting can you post up a exploded view of the pump?
If its not a seal then it must be a bore leaking! There is a few places mainly for exspencive brake valves Eg: brake sencing proportioning valve over a grand! but can be rebuilt with a S/S insert to replace the crapped out bore for a couple of hundred bucks!
Pretty sure it was a brake and clutch place in Brisbane that does re-sleaves.
Cheers.

Could try 'Stainless steel sleeving' at Brendale mate and see if they can help? They do brake boosters etc I'm not sure what else.
OK the issue has been resolved,
Again thanks to Yamaha for the prompt response and excellent service.
