Bad luck on the fishing front mate hopefully it will improve, but that extension to the deck looks just like a brought one well done top effort.
Its been a big weekend, we auctioned our house yesterday so today was a day to relax and recover.
This is the result: a fishing report inspite of starting more like something that belongs in the "Boating" forum .
During the week I made an extension for the rear casting deck on the Bullshark. Trace fishes from the front deck which is huge for a small boat so she can stretch out all she likes, and I fish from the back which has a small deck, and is not the most comfortable, god life is tough for us blokes ...(not)
BEFORE:
I am reasonably handy but don't know how to weld aluminium (actually I don't know how to weld anything ) so a few rivets, stainless screws, some aluminium sheeting and framing, 2 square meters of marine carpet, appropriate adhesive & some ply and hey presto:
AFTER
It has space below for a box of stuff (maybe I'll steal an idea from various others on Ausfish and pop a gas cooker in there so Trace and I can share a fresh brew on future trips) and a compartment in the top that I think will become the home for our plastics.
So we tested it out today along with a different approach to the fishing; we decided to fish the afternoon instead of the usual sunrise fishing. We were working on the theory that the flatties might be more active in the afternoon warmth (read this in a magazine).
Got down to our usual launch spot at Deep Water Bend about 1.30pm and met up with Shawn who was just finishing for the day. Good to see you Shawn, it has been too long since we crossed paths!
I was concerned when Shawn said that he hadn't managed to get any livies today...hmmm not a good sign but we are fishing plastics so hardly the end of the world.
Headed to our usual starting spot and it was pretty slow. The new deck was initiated with its first fish...an undersized flatty, then not long after another one:
Unfortunately that was it for fish for the day. We tried a few other spots but to no avail. We did however catch this bastaaard red handed checking out someone else's crab pots:
Still a lovely afternoon on the Pine, but I really do hope the fishing improves soon it feels like about 2 months since we had a good session down there. It'll happen as spring arives

Well done on the extension, looks great and strong, should make a huge difference to your fishing, may not help the results but you'll be able to move around a bit more wich helps when doing long hours on the water, great job.
BINGO
Nice job on the deck extension.Should give you a little more room to move and looks very Smick. Shame you didn't come across many fish but who can complain about a day on the water.

Good work on the boat Tim , looks great . Good to see you both again , and yes it has been too long . Bloody fishing has been a bit quiet lately . Magic day on the water though .
Hope to catch up soon .
Shawn
tim bad luck with the fish mate. Youre not the only one fiding the fish pretty thin lately. Im in the middle of putting together a rear deck for my tinny. Well havent really started yet. but thanks for the ideas for supplies
Dean
Nice report there mate. I found the best way to fire up a session in the pine is to get out of it... Havent looked back
Nice stuff Tim. Now you can stop complaining about your small deck
Anyway, great report as usual. Seems fishing is slow in a lot of areas (excluding SPDUDE's GC report)
Have a good one!!
Good stuff. Nice report and well done with that extension for your casting platform.
Cheers, Doug.
Love to use Preditek or Kingfisher lures or Viva Lures when I am out fishing.
Dean, the only thing I was uncertain of was the adhesive. Ended up using Artificial Turf Adhesive due to its high water-proof qualities. I think it will do the job well.
Yes I suspect that I wasn't the only one to be jealous of that report

Good looking deck extension mate so it will give you more fishing room but still am wrapped the both of you go fishing. One of the best parts of your fishing no doupt as my family have had enough of catching nothing in bay at day when we all used to go to pin and hook heaps of flatties but now kids to old. Tidy boat to so well done Tim. Cheers DD.....
