Re: Garmin 750s/TM260 screen shots.
Johncar, thanks for that. Ive never seen images like that with mine set at 200kHz, in auto or manual, in that depth.
BUT, while having a coffee and ciggy before this mornings trip out, I re-read Birdy's post about run it in 50kHz manual. I swear Ive tried that out there and seen nothing, until today. YIPPEE, I could at least tell when I was over fish and not over fish. My mate said last time I tried the 50kHz mode, we cant have been over anything to see!! Im wishing now that I took some screen shots.
What showed up was heavy red returns of fish from bottom to varying depths up to 15m above bottom, or very scatterred coloured returns, or nothing at all. The nothing at all (except bottom profile) is the best bit. I knew when to start a new drift, we'd left the fish so go back and start again. And I could see where the spot to start again was too. At times we had good showings on the sounder but no bites, but where we did hook up there was something showing. We pulled snapper, pearlies, amberjack and kingies up from the showings. Its a big improvement but Im still considering a stand alone sounder.

Congrats Lancair, makes a big difference when you know there is something there or not and yes sometimes they show and no bite but no show and no bite means find some new ground. I seem to get much the same images on either 200 or 50 KHZ so I just tend to leave it on 200Khz because it's a narrower angle and should represent more what's directly below in my thinking but I could be wrong. I think the power of the 1KW unit would come into it's own in deeper water.
