A couple of screen shots from today.

The 90 m shot .
50% gain , 50 khz noise rejection off on 2x zoom.

125m shot is one of the contianers that fell off the Pacific Adventurer.
65 % gain , 50 khz, noise rejection off 4 x zoom .

We caught pearlies off all these soundings and some snapper.

When I get out deep I'll get some of it in 250m .

Birdy, I have a 750S, what do you mean by the TM260 ? excuse my ignorance.

I was fishing in 85-90m today and couldnt get any sounder images like those above. I tried both 200 and 50khz with everything from no gain to 100% gain and auto mode but could not see anything resembling anything other than hard bottom at all. Still we managed to get 14 Snapper by just dropping and drifting in the area of a mark we had. Id like to be able to at least see something instead of hit and miss fishing.

EDIT: A quick google search revealed many options and parts, just to suit Garmin. I also got a bit of a shock at how expensive they are, but . . . the satisfaction in finding and bringing up fish and the odd PB fish far outweighs this kind of expense over years of use, IMO.
Can you tell the part numbers (t'ducer and cable) that suits the Garmin750s please Birdy ?

Yes expensive they are but they make the difference in deep water , only in 250m plus do i get anywhere near 100 % gain.
Another thing is the noise rejection must be turned off and this option only appears after you manualy adjust the gain from auto to the slide controll.If noise rejection is still on in deep water you don't get the real benifit from the 1kw.It takes out too much noise , some of that you need to see to keep the gain at the right spot and see the fish.
I'm not sure of the part number right now but there is only one Garmin TM260 1kw Transom Mount Tranducer , that's the one .It plugs into the existing 750s tranducer plug .
Any good Garmin Marine seller will be able to help.

I got my TM260 from the states as it was delivered to me less than half price compared to the local prices, if you do the same, just specify which Sounder you want to connect it to as some have a different cable.

Lancair.......depending on the depths you fish in another option is the TM270W which has a wider beam than the TM260.

I simply bought a new Furuno (600w) as had the same issues as you. I was in 65m on Saturday and the Furuno was crystal clear while the Garmin (500w) was a fuzzy mess. Even Birdy's shots above are what I'd call fuzzy - when you are looking for reds in 120m of water in the bottom meter you need clarity. The standard Furuno will deliver this. Over 150m I'd add the bigger tranny. I need to take some photos to show what I mean. Even in shallow water the Garmin is grainy. Great plotter.

Don't wish to be a killjoy but my furuno with a b164 tranny is clear as in 300ftms, slows and looses signal at 540 fthms. If you fish a lot in estuaries etc you will need the wide beam, otherwise it's to narrow in shallow water at 200hz. Garmin are the pick of the crop for me as far as GPS systems go, they should stick to it. Perhaps you might think of moving your power cable, take power direct from battery and not acc bus, play with the tranny position, all this can make a huge difference.

I ran my 750S on the weekend and at 30 knots and 50m depth it was as clear as a bell, I only got the sounder option as the entire unit came at a really cheap price but it is doing it's job better than my old fuuno. I did spend about half an hour sitting behind the boat looking for all the reasons why a transducer wouldn't work before positioning it, glad I did. Mine is a 600 w transducer, maybe Garmin have upgraded the transducer as everybody else seems to be quoting 500 W.

Dignity, I get images at 110m that are clear, NO FISH clear.
I can clearly see structure but thats it. I was pulling squire up from 85m on sunday, couldnt see them but after a few drifts over/around the mark I was given, we found some (or our baited hooks found some), marked those spots and then could go back and get more. Id like to eliminate having to go wildly prospecting around marks for a few hours to find fish.

Lancair, Please send me these marks and I will see if I can get a beeter picture for you with fish Mine was on Auto and I did see fish while at speed however I bought the unit primarily for the GPS, the sounder was there in case the other one decided it was time to retire. I haven't played with Gain yet and suspect that I will need to and as mentioned the transducer is a 600W not 500W althought the differnce between these would probably be a flyspeck. I will probably play with it as it is there but hope to get a new sounder down the track, still have to contend with the managing director about spending money on the GPS. I had to take her out on Saturday to placate her which I love doing but I do get tired of baiting the hook, undoing the tangles, bringing the fish in as she says she can't hold them, taking them off the hook, bleeding the fish, cleaning the decks, reversing the trailer both times etc, etc, etc HOWEVER she did get to see whales close up a few times so I am safe for at least another cople of months and she may just be amenable to me spending a few more hard earned dollars.

Yes and yes (same side). No interference from the two trannies next to each other that I can notice.

Another thing I picked up is the temperature reading is 1.5 degree higher on the Garmin and the depth is 0.5m more. The Garmin is wrong on both counts (tested temp in shed with an accurate thermometer and the Furuno spot on). This could cause a real problem went hunting for barra in shallow water!
