Holy crap that thing is huge. Ive only heard of one a bit smaller and was going on 43cm down Victoria (I think) around oyster trays.
Bet she put up a good fight.
Yeah, gotta get me a mat, never worried about it that much but would be nice to have a proper pic showing the size, but that pic gives you apretty good idea...Ive never seen one this big either!

flatzie: I have been a long time lurker of the site but never thought about paying for membership until I saw that cracker of a Bream. Registered just to come on and give you congrats, that will probs be a lifetime PB mate, absolute fkn killer fish.
What did you catch it on + how was the fight? I bet you thought it was a Snapper for awhile!

Thanks and Yeah I was fishing for snapper, thought it was one for a while, but they fight differently to snapper. Very hard fight though, even on 10kg line. I thought the 37 was pretty good until that one came on. Caught it on a fresh belly flap of a tailor caught earlier. We had fished near Mud and got quite a few tailor, and when filleting down, I kept all the trimmings off the filets and used them for bait in the evening, the snapper loved them as well. And the Jewie, see my report!
Flatzie
Nice! I've had some awesome sessions on big bream at night on sp's. They seem to feed more freely in place where they spook easily during daylight.
Forklength? haha- it sounds similar to how many surfers measure waves...they say 'yeah mate its 3 foot out there' - when you can clearly see its 8 feet! So you say 'why is it 3 feet and not 8 feet?' and they answer 'well you gotta measure from the back of the wave' to which you reply 'why' and then they reply with.... 'dunno mate' So really its just BS right?
Nice work Ben & Flatzie! That's some stonker Bream! My biggest was just over 45cm back in 1996 in the Noosa Rvr - got it on a live herring off a bridge. I had never seen anything like it and not since (in the flesh).
Take Care T
That's a solid Bream! Nice work
What plastics did you use Blooey
Regards,
The Bomber
Just back from working away and decided to see if they were still around this arvo. Walked a plastic across the top of a sunken tree and then let it fall next to it. This Boss grabbed it and wrapped me around the trunk but came back out when i motored upstream. Found a few of his smaller mates aswell.
