Thread: Microsoft outlook express issues.

  1. #1

    Microsoft outlook express issues.

I am running Outlook Express 6 on windows XP.

For some reason, a little while ago, the emails to my main account will not show up in my inbox.

They appear on the sidebar " inbox " like inbox 5 .. but the actual email will not appear in the inbox folder. Last one I can read is from Microsoft, welcoming me to express 6... dated 31/7/2011.

This means I have to go to optuszoo ( provider ) to read my emails.... for main identity / account only .

Funny thing is......... I have 4 identities on the one account and there is nothing wrong with the other 3.

IF you KNOW what the issue is, I would appreciate the help.

    cheers Phill

Did you know that IE has a limit of 2Gb for mail?

    Try some of the following

You may also want to try using Thunderbird it will import everything for you, easy setup

    Re: Microsoft outlook express issues.

I regularly (every few months) create a new set of folders in OE6 and transfer older emails to these folders then move those folders to a storage location outside of the OE6 directory.
The 2gb capacity of OE6 includes all folders in the OE6 directory, including trash and sent items and all the attachments.

I dabbled with the first release of Thunderbird and dropped it soon afterwards, I expect the glitches are now removed and it should work well.

As for why only one address fails sounds like a config problem in that email account or that account is being screened out from content issues (if you have any privacy settings enabled).

    Re: Microsoft outlook express issues.

    Steve,

    tried all the suggestions.

    No luck, but.

I deleted some emails in my inbox, as the counter said 3100messages. I deleted 20... it counted them down, but they were quickly replaced and now back to 3100... all old messages from 2011. Seems I may have extended my stored messages........ now how do I multi-delete inbox messages ?
