Cotton Tree Fishing
Hi all. Off to Cotton Tree caravan park for a week starting late next week. Won't have my boat and never really fished the river mouth or local beaches up that way.
Any advice and directions for land based fishing in the area would be appreciated. Assume tailor, bream and flatties the main go at the moment.
Thanks for any help you can pass my way.
Cheers

There is a large sand spit that is always changing at the mouth of the Maroochy river. Can be some good flatties on the dropping tide at the end of the spit. Make sure you flick plastics on the up stream side of and sand banks and work them back into the back eddings. Also the end of the sand bags are a good chance at this time of year. I was down there the other week watching the school holiday makers pulling some nice bream on dark. Also so good gutters on the Northshore worth a try from tailor and jew.
Good Luck

Large shallow runner lures at night just behind the bar and in the first hole can produce big jew at times. Jew actively feed just inside the river mouth at Maroochy on a pretty regular basis.

Ive pulled in a few Flathead out of the surf near the sandbags during past holidays throwing different coloured metal slugs around.
Top place for a holiday mate good luck.
