any of you know of a good press studs to have on the canvas/boat, I am sick of repairing studs that keep braking off, even after spraying them with salt away and other stuff to keep them in good condition.

The press studs IMO are rubbish they pretty much all end up corroding. I would be replacing them with something a bit more like this:
Common Sense Single Height 2 hole stud
Or this:

Stayput Fastener - Single Vertical
Or where possible use sail track

Press studs will eventually all fail and it is hard to find SS ones which do last a bit longer, I have found that when I put them in I spray them with silicone spray first and then every couple of trips do it again and it seems to do the job. I did this after I had corrosion in some zips and the only thing that worked was silicone spray every day over a couple of days and then hitting it with hot water. Nothing else previously worked.
I do have sail track on my bimini as I need to slide it back to reduce height when it is folded down otherwise I can't get it into the carport and I used the C Track:

but what sort would you use for side curtains instead of press studs or the other alternatives mentioned above.
I have been using a generous amount of vaseline in the press stud around the spring and it seems to work well. On;y takes a few minutes to put on every few months.

what is sail track ?
i rplaced some with 2 hole stud , but i also have to make the ring in th fabric, and do not look attractive.
i am surprised with all the demand for press studds. the manufacturers did not come up with better quality SS stud
wouldn.t thevaseline leaves stain mark on the white fabrik?
Vaso works fine if you look at the part you're trying to lubricate you will realise that half a matchhead of vaso is more than enough to do one button, just a tiny smear.
Snapersam if you follow this link it is what understand to be sail track and it has particular fitings that slip into the C track but I imagine there are a number of types and I am not sure how it is used for items such as side curtains, can any one oblige with a photo as I would love to replace my press studs.
