Re: Wellington Point ramp. Users please read !!
Well It didn't take long to be able to show you guys the ignorance of the general public in relation to the parking at Wellington Point. Forgive me if this doesn't work properly as I am not used to altering pictures....
i.e. Blocking number plates. The arrows in pics 1 & 2 show available single car parking, and there was roughly two thirds of the single car parking spots at the point available at this point in time, the arrows in pic 3 indicate firstly that there is no visible disable sticker to suggest the driver is incapacitated and if there was the other arrow shows that at the time of the pic there was disable parking available, now I know that the point would be better made when it is busy, however it does go to show that this behaviour goes on all the time...Cheers Bingo (Dave)

Had the same thing happen at the IOC ramp down the coast yesterday! Clearly marked bays (6 in total) for cars WITH boat trailers while there's ample on street parking for cars WITHOUT trailers, yet some clown parked in the only remaining bay thereby forcing us to find sufficient space elsewhere to park a Prado with a 5m boat trailer, which according to the signage was illegal! Seriously, is ignorance the 'norm' these days...?

Mate, people may think that it is just a winge, however until these "offenders" realize the frustration involved in trying to park an over sized vehicle where it shouldn't be parked, then they will never understand, maybe we should all offer these people the opportunity to have a go at reversing or even just parking our vehicles and trailers... I would be willing to do such...under strict supervision of course.....LOL
This is not just the Wellington Point Ramp, so come on people speak up, or this problem could escalate at your ramp next.

Would you believe I have heard those same words, 20 odd years ago from the "then" CEO of AVIS RENT A CAR AUST, in SYDNEY, needless to say, as you know, I'm not with them now....We were at an Xmas party on a boat in Sydney harbour and I asked him for a pay rise in a very creative way...LOL ...

To be honest, the car parked in the pictures does not bother me at all, and yes i do and have used wello pt to launch hundreds of times.
The reason it doesn't bother me is that its hardly a busy period, so really, who gives a toss.
IF this was happening on a wkend or public holiday etc. and the car park was full, then i agree the vehicle owner would need to be issued with a 'please explain'.
However, as i previously said, getting upset about this instance is probably a waste of blood pressure.
cheers,
Damo
Well I'll be..........Deiter's still alive.
Initially, I thought that we were looking at four different cars in different parking spots. Enough to think (almost) that there is a contagion of illegal parking activity breaking out that must be stopped at all costs.
Now, I realize that it is four photos of the same car in the same parking spot.
Hmmm! Perhaps you have a new camera that you were wanting to try out extensively to see if there are differences in aspect?
Perhaps he was lumbered the night before for drink driving and was told by the constabulary to lock up his car and leave it there whilst he accompanied them to far off places.
To be honest, it does not look like the place to park to look at the view and he would not have been parking there to leave on the well known Wellington Point ferry service. He may have had an innocent reason for getting his car off the road in what is obviously an isolated spot at that time.

Agreed mate, this instance doesn't bother me either, it was just to make the point to council that it does go on. My blood pressure is fine too mate thanks for the concern..
Charleville
All good points mate and your right one photo probably would of done the same job.
Cheers Bingo (Dave)
This is why you park them in and watch the panic when they cant get out
Hi all,
Really glad you made the point and took some photo's as I got angry a couple of weeks ago with the whole issues and rudeness as well.....please see http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...llington+point
I contacted the Redland Council and the local Councillor (Wendy Boglary) who took it to a council meeting last Tuesday the 10th of July, and I am waiting to hear on the outcome of that meeting. Basically you should email her and the mayor about your issues and complaints as I am sick and tired of going to launch my boat on a Saturday and Sunday to NOT get a park because ignorant weekenders park illegally in boat trailer spots. I think I will start parking behind them soon and go fishing but then take the risk of getting back to your car being keyed or something?
Send in the complaint emails to wendy.boglary@redland.qld.gov.au and rcc@redland.qld.gov.au and the Mayor, Karen Williams mayor@redland.qld.gov.au
Wendy gave me the after hours number to ring to get a parking inspector down to the ramp as well.......it is 3829 8633 and Local Laws has a weekend officer on duty from 8.33am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. I am not confident that if you phone that number a compliance officer would be available as it would depend where they were at that time in the City etc. but at least the concern would be logged. Please put it into your phone and start ringing as the more complaints the better......
Cheers
Andrew
