    Re: TightLines Fishing Competition 2012

Well weather on Friday looks like it will blow but might be a glimmer of hope Saturday with wind in the morning then dropping out for the arve, may look like an overnighter for Saturday night, what u guys think? In my opinion the tides are shocking....

    Cheers from boony

P.s would upload some weather updates but not sure how from the iPhone??

Gee, weather has been pretty ordinary, I didn't bother today.

A few good fish weighed in though - has anybody here been out?

    Scott.

    Re: TightLines Fishing Competition 2012

Yep, I saw JT heading out yesterday.

There was a rush of reefies weighed in yesterday arvo with a reasonably consistent stream of live fish throughout the day. Most blokes coming in from out wide reckoned that they ended up inches shorter once they got home from the constant pounding. One lad said it took him three and a half hours to get home from Flat!

    Re: TightLines Fishing Competition 2012

Hey Wags when are you coming up?
guys not much to report from the tight lines with strong wind warning sw first day and fifteen plus sw second day catches were well down on expectation been a few reefies, reds, nannies and spanish, a fairly big trevally, several flatties in the 70cm range, 48cm bream and a horse whiting that apparently went 52cm ( I never saw it but they did announce it though)
JT hasn't caught bugger all, I caught up with him and Boony last night for a Jimmy (Boony must stand in manure he's about 7foot tall and still growing)
I couldn't be bothered putting in the big boat because my spots just don't fish well with west in the wind, so we hit the creeks instead
my only fish was an oversize barra that had to go back and they aren't even on the list this year, bugger!
couldn't even win a bloody raffle
    cheers

In a similar position to alot of others, went out Saturday and got hammered badly past the islands - nothing to weigh in and nothing in the lucky door prizes.
Overall a good event though, will give it another go next year.

    Re: TightLines Fishing Competition 2012

Had to be mad to head out in those winds on Friday. We fished of the rock wall at Keppel Sands for an hour or so before crossing the bar..... at the Keppel Sands Hotel for at least twice that long. Then into the bus and off to The Pine Beach Tavern for a couple more, then a quick stop at the bar at Emu's Beach Resort (my bro in-laws place) before hitting the prize giving.... no fish, no raffle wins then back to the bar. Saturday morning required a period of recovery while waiting for the wind to drop. We then headed out through the chop and all we picked up was a good cod and a reasonable parrot (would have won the category if we didn't eat it), but that was all..... again we hit the raffle and collected nothing but a hangover.
Sunday we just went to the prize giving to pick up my new tinny, but some other selfish prick won it.
I did win a spinning combo that came with some other tackle so I was suitably chuffed.
We were up there the whole week as my wife was doing the half ironman the following weekend, so I managed to get out wide on the Wednesday to a few "secret" spots, but again the same problem. Loads of fish on the sounder, but nothing wanting a feed. We fished all day and came home with two jew and two cobia all well over 1 mtr, all on live slimys.
    Not one reefie though.... unbelievable.
It was a great week though.... I need to get up there more often.
There are only two moments in time.... There's now, and there's too late.
