Swains trip out of Mackay - leaving in 3 weeks

I have a week long trip leaving Mackay in about 3 weeks time - has anyone been out to the coral sea or Swains lately and if so how was the fishing.

Were the trout up on the reef or out a bit deeper

Have the mackeral out there got any size to them?

Any info would be much appreciated

    Cheers

    Hey Dodge,
We fished the outer reef from Airlie Beach last weekend and found stacks (!!!) Of Mackeral, but only 8-10kg models. The few Trout we got were in 20-25m and there were heaps od Red Throats in the lagoons.
Hope you have a good trip!

At this time of the year the trout will be on the edges ,the weather face of the reefs fish well,if you have a veiwer look for plate coral.

Cheers fishard and chris69, I heard the Mackies were thick at the moment - always good for a screaming drag - I hope the reds and nannygais are just as thick - will let you know how we go.
