Question To buy... or not to buy?

    Hi guys

Been offered a Quintrex, 4.5M CC with a 50 Merc, said to be around 1998. All electrics are there, fish finder, GPS, vhf? or UHF? Nav lights etc. Got a bimini and an under floor tank. Boat is well used, lots of paint coming off, the usual corrosion etc. Trailer in reasonable shape . Motor appears to have 1300 hours on it, yep thirteen hundred!

    Bloke trying for $7 750.00.

    ANY thoughts welcome.
Not too clued up on the hull, (know they are good) just don't want to get stung.
Am also not sure of the high hours on the motor, Mercury is a good motor, but for how many hours, till high maintenance is needed??

    Thanks in advance.

Doesnt sound flash to me. Have a look on the usual sales sites and do you research before you part with you hard earned

too much for a tatty boat with a so so trailer and a high hours motor (in my opinion)

It would want to have about $7,000 worth of electronics on it to justify that price.

1300 hrs in 14 years comes to around 92 hours a year that is well used. If it had around 400-500 hrs i'd say go for it however I think the asking price is a little high for something with those sort of hours IMO.

Thanks to all who helped me decide! Gave it a miss. Found out the Merc motor is good for around 2000 hours, then it's going to cost heaps to repair. Also the fact that it has some serious corrosion issues, as well as the trailer needing new springs and mudgaurds, all added up to not being viable at all. If it were newer, with less hours, and a better trailer.... maybe.
    Thanks again.

if u price it out hull is worth around $3500 engine $1500 trailer $1000 so i'd offer him around $5500 for it even tho he would get the price hes asking that boat would have been 20k new in 98 also the high hours on the engine is good it shows no one has tampered with the hour meter u never know it could have been fully rebuilt 200 hours ago u could go out buy a 98 model outboard with 200 hours on it and it blows up the following week because it hasnt been rebuilt in 14 years
