I had a similar story with losing a rod over the side in 35m at 1770, only to get it back an hour later

Lol its a cracker to see the look on someones face when their rod has just bolted out of their hands and into the water, and they are standing there, and they say to you "I dont know whether to be pissed for losing my rod or for losing the fish!" Lol Lol. I had a bloke at work a little while ago lose a rod also on a jetty at Maroochydoor, just a funny story!

When we were kids the coochy ferry pulled dads rod in. Went back a few weeks later and some random pulled his rod in. Believed us and gave us the rod . Thankfully this time it only spent 10 mins in the salt and drag was tight so hope with a good service will be all good. Love you big fella lol

Awesome trip boys. Only 4 more sleeps until we go for 7 days. Can't wait. Will try and get out to the Swains again this year and so far the weather is looking great with light winds predicted for Saturday and Sunday this week.
