Has anyone made their own wet box? If so what did you use?

I used a piece of PVC pipe with a screw on cap with the transducer screwed into it. I glued the pipe to the inner hull and then filled the pipe with peanut oil. Or some oil which doesn't generate bubbles.

Fishing is not simply my escape,it is where I am supposed to be,it is not a place that I go, But a life long journey I am taking, it is a passage that was shown to me and that I will continue to show to others. When you understand all of this, you will then know me and we will fish together.

I did much the same as swampdoggy on a previous vessel although parafin was the supposed to be the good oil then but I found that parafin didn't like most silicone sealers and eventually leaked and I thought that gliserene has similar properties, a mate of mine had all sorts of similar problems. These days I thought that non toxic coolant fluid was the go, the green one from memory. At the moment noth my transducers our mounted outside on the hull but I am looking to building a wet box, it would be glassed into the hull.
