Yeah I got that email from tigerz aswell. Dont be fooled, its the shitty hurcules winch. And not the good grande. If you want a tigerz 12000lbs. Your not going to do better than the $650 delivered qouted (obviously thats based on delivery to queensland).

A cheap winch is one that doesn't fail when you need it to work....no matter how much cash was used to purchase it.
Which one that is I don't know. Well I do know and that's the mechanical winch on the front of the Landrover.
That sucker would pull the moon out of orbit if the cable was long enough. Or the broom stick out of a redheads bum......which-ever you deem the most stuck thing.

But I have heard good reviews about the Tigerz
I showed that comment to Gwenda and she's highly offended. She didn't think you'd say anything like that. You're persona non grata at our place now mate.

Why did I show it to her? Because I can.

Yes JJ, she has. And she's gutted. She had to have a Bex and a lie down. But do you know the best thing?

I got Finga in the shit.

I know a bloke with a rarely used portable winch 4 sale - please PM me for more info, Mal.

The Tirfor T516 hand winch with 30m wire rope is a compact, is easy to use and relatively lightweight lever operated hoist. It is operated using a telescopic operating handle and can be used for any lifting or pulling job with a working load limit (WLL) of 1,600kgs (lifting) and 2,500kg (pulling). It can replace conventional winches and other hoists for many applications. Is there anything else (nonexplosive), that you can pick up with one hand, and that can move five tons one hundred feet--with safety, precision, and astonishingly little work?

I haven't used a Tirfor for 15 years but I must thank them as it was because of them that I became a much better , safer and have better judgement in the bush solo. Spending a half day on the end of one when you stuff up makes you remember next time to not get in the situation in the first place, do your scouting and preparation early rather than have to get it out and pull yourself out of bogs. Saying that they are brilliant simple and require only the human everlasting battery ( not as everlasting as it was years ago and now comes with diff locks , better vehicle, better tyres, better jacks , max trax, etc) . They really are a safe and brilliant tool especially when pulling out backwards or sideways, trailers and on a big trip I'd still take one and I wish I hadn't sold mine.

It really would be a last resort to pull out from under the tray these days as a back up on a realy difficult recovery. We moved massive trees ( only had axes) , cattle grates, lifted side of shed, pulled out loaded farm trucks that tractors and chains couldn't and it was all bloody hard sweaty work but we didn't break anything but will remember that click click clock click in nightmares or arm and back pain. Setting one up with some shorter steel cable resetting it and rope and for lightness still makes it a great recovery tool.

Years ago I saw a bloke with one that was air driven with a air actuator cylinder. It was nifty and would have saved a lot of backs on a long recovery.
