    Making my own rod locker

    hi.

I am wanting opinions on the rod locker i am about to make out of 1.6mm ally checker plate.

it may be 1800mm long x 100mm wide by 100mm high.

I want to store 2 x rods in there which will be around 1650mm long.

I have a small boat (4.1m poly) and so space is a premium and I am trying to optimise the size of this locker and cannot make it any wider.

The rods will be expensive barra lure rods with small baitcaster overheads attached.

The reason for the longer length (1800mm vs 1650mm) is so that I can offset each rod so that the reels do not interfere. The rods will be fasten down with velcro or something like that.

    Your thoughts on this proposition?

Should I make the locker shorter, but still be able to accommodate 2 lure rods at 1650mm each without touching?

How wide are these small baitcaster overhead reels?

    Good idea.

    Any thoughts on :
    - how I can easily access the rods (with reels on) whilst on the water using the PVC pipe?
    - how I can ensure multiple rods do not touch each other whilst inside the pVC pipe?

Can you top and tail them? And use a high density foam from Clarke rubber with two vee's cut into them. use 3-4 over the length of it.

top and tail = block both ends up?

If I want to fit 2 barra rods/reels in this tubing, how woudl the Vee's cut assist?

Still not quit picturing how the Vee profile would work??
