    Fuel consumption

I am looking at putting a pair of Suzuki 250hp fourstokes on our older style 25ft Capecat. They are second hand with low hours(600) and are currently on a 3500 noose cat. The combined fuel consumption on the noose cat cruising at about 4200rpm and 22 knots is 100 liters an hour. Does anyone have a guestimate of the fuel consumption on the cape cat.

not sure about that boat, but you will need a prop change. being a smaller boat, I would put 21 inch pitch prop as a minimum. this should get you up to about 25knots at 4000rpm, and you will get around 80 litres/hour.
just comparing it to the 225 suzis on my 3100 k/cat, done it easy with up to 12 people and gear etc.
great motors apart from a lot of little niggly things on them. got a bit annoying in the end so put hondas on and never looked back.

I think if you can get your cruising RPM below 4000 you should be able to get close to 60L per hour propped up right.
My DF250 runs at about 30Litres per hour at 3800RPM/23kts on a 6.6M tinnie approx 2.2tonne on the water. I have an SS 16" x 20" Suzuki Prop fitted which the engine pushes easily up over 6000RPM.
