Solas propellers from USA iboat, I think very cheap

Hi All , if u are thinking of an S/S propeller. After a recommendation from this site for iboat USA, I purchased the Solas RBX-126 - High Performance Rubber Hub
Solas Rubex HR4 Blade Stainless 13" dia. X 19" pitch SR for the amount $405.80 here was 655.00 from Solas agent here in Perth. Just 7 days for it to be at the door and after checking the delivery invoice for only $335.80, double checked the paying agent and that was all that was paid to iboat. The weather is to foul to give it a run but I expect a better performance than the old aluminum which will how be the spare. I considered it a very good deal and hence this report for anybody thinking of doing the same.
Happy boating P/S it went on a Suzuki DF140 4 stroke

I was recently faced with the same task of upgrading a prop. Looked at the cheaper US option, but took the local Solas option as this allowed me to try out several props until it was right. Glad I did as it took three props to find the right solution for me.

I'm with you Apollo, in fact I was a click away from ordering through Iboats and got cold feet and went to Steve at Solas. I guess if you KNOW which prop you need, the US option is very worthwhile.im

I bought local (Solas) and they are great to deal with. On my second prop as the first wasn't quite right and they replaced without a hassle and my replacement turned up before I had even returned the first one... Fantastic service and will be using them again in the future..

    Cheers

I did the same, it only took me two props to get it right. But I'm glad I did it this way, as the first prop was worse than the original one.

I think that if your replaceing a standard factory prop from the USA all good very cheap, but if your playing around it could cost you in the long run,you might pay more for the prop here but you will get what you want even if it takes 1or2 goes to get it right,if you read the comments on some of those sites some are happy and some are not because theres no sending it back if its not the right prop.

Yea if u r not sure what u want, then paying the extra dollars might be worth it but I knew what I wanted and did a fair bit of research to back it up so it was dollars for something else I want.. There is always Ebay or Gumtree...

taiwan or not does not matter. Solas are an OE supplier to some of the majors and yes save a bundle from the US.I agree with an earlier post, its alright to pay a little extra for the service but nearly twice as much is a blatant rip.

Having gone through the prop setting up saga a few times now and doing the maths it is definitely more economical to deal with Solas here, that's my personal experience at least.
I have done the comparo's and considered buying from the US but without being 100% confident that it will work I am not prepared to end up with 1, 2 or 3 props laying around to try and sell second hand.
I have never found Solas here to be double the price and it is not fair to compare what deal may be advertised in the US and the RRP you see here. Have a look at the RRP in the US also and the difference is much less. Solas should give you a better deal to if you ask them but yes you should expect to pay a bit more here and especially for the great service they provide and the extra taxes and wages we have here.
I can't think of and business that has gone out of their way to help get the best solution and performance, they have been excellent.
I really feel that we should support local businesses like Solas and we will keep stuffing this country if we don't.

Amita 4 here $315.00 can pick up in US for US $94.00 plus delivery. service aside there is no justification for that sort of difference for an item originating in Taiwan.

Remember here in Aus it is a Solas agent selling direct to the public = One step distribution before making it to the end user

In the states through a reseller/dealer = Two step distribution before making it to the end user.

Even the Titan 4 can be purchased for less than half price over there excluding delivery.
