Inshore light line I think Elops Australis is the winner, the good old giant herring.

Jack.
The fastest fish is the one you have just accidently dropped after taking it off your hooks. Especally when standing in the surf.
If you've ever caught a Bluefin off the rocks with an Alvey, You will never forget it. Awesome experience.2 fantastic runs then their dead weight. In the days before Star drags when you had to put a hand under the reel to slow it down, you were always glad when the Blue had called it quits. lol.
Without Google I seem to remember the Blue Fin Tuna being the fastest.
I'll have to go and Google it now...
Nope it's the Sailfish.
What is the point of this thread? I need Google!
Personal experience,
the fastest fish I have ever seen ate a tailor nearly 2kg as live bait,
this fish stopped dead when I sunk the hooks,
after 6 big pull & winds, I realised the mongerel was just changing gear,
600 mtrs of 50lb gone in about 4.5 mins, at absolute max drag,
called it for either a decent Blue or a very big yellowfin,
never got to find out.
Muzz
For duration of the fight longtails dont ever give up but for pure speed i would have to say wahoo would be the fastest i have seen
would have to agree with tunaticer.. GH on lght line are deadset unbelievable..
dont knock on deaths door... ring the doorbell and run... death hates that!!
The fastest fish Ive ever caught was a big barracuda.
Those Flying Fish look pretty fast too. They are always going faster than the boat at WOT.
Fishing- It's only an addiction if you're trying to quit.
dont know what it was but it lives off the rocks at waddy point and can empty a penn 750 spinfisher in 4 seconds!! that sucked. long walk back to the car to re spool.
