    Re: you tube copyright law

I've had something taken off Youtube before because of the backing music I used. It was fine for a couple of weeks then I edited it and included the name of the song and artist in the "tag". Next thing you know my vid was removed because of copyright infringement. They must have some search program that constantly searches the tags. I tried to repost it with a different tag but it was still rejected. Youtube must have recognised the old vid as being previously banned. I re-edited the whole vid with just a couple of tiny changes, used the original music (but didn't mention it in the tag) and loaded it up to Youtube, been there 4 years now.

I got some popular music in this vid too, also been there 4 years

    Hope this was some help.
    Cheers

I was sent an email due to copyright infringement on my kingfish video with ACDC music on it, as long as i am not making money off it, it seems ok, although it is banned in Germany

    "What does this mean?

Your video is blocked in these locations:
    Germany
In some cases ads may appear next to your video. Please note that the video's status can change, if the policies chosen by the content owners change. Learn more about copyright on YouTube.

This claim does not affect your account status. Permanently replacing the audio with a song from YouTube's Audio Library will remove any audio claims and unblock your video."

    Re: you tube copyright law

Hey Guys, I work in the music industry and have a clear understanding of copyright and IP law. Basically, if you don't get permission from the copyright holder to use their content, you are infringing on their rights. No different than if you were to use the McDonalds logo without doing the same. If you do try to get permission to use a piece of music from the copyright holder, they will try to charge you a fee to use the piece of music, even if you are not making money out of it. This is just general procedure. The best way to get around this problem is to find local up and coming musicians who want to get their music exposed and use their content on your videos. This is good exposure for them and keeps you out of potential trouble if your videos become extremely popular. I you want more detailed info, let me know. Cheers, Dave

When I upload stuff, I change the tempo of the music ever so slightly. The end user cant notice it, but whatever youtube uses to match content doesn't pick it up )
