I am chasing first hand info on Powertechs CFF4 stainless steel 4 blader. Has anyone used one of these and if so what gains/losses were experienced compared to the previous prop.
Reason being, I want a good stern lifting prop and this one seems to be a good, semi cleaver style 4 blade, of which there arn't many. If I can help it, I didn't want to be the Guinea pig.
The boat is a 550 plate alloy centre console weighing in its normal operating condition (Boat/fuel/bait/people/motor) around 1550kg. The motor is Suzuki 140 2.59 ratio. Current top speed is 68 km/h at 6200rpm.
Not sure of that particular model but have used & tried their ELE4 & OFS4 on a few boats & motor combos. ELE had the greatest transom lift but from memory is their 'entry' level SS model. It ventilated easy on yams but not on a verado. As props have different habits on different boats, regardless if they are sized correctly, you will probably just have to try it.
What diam & pitch?
Cheers
Brendon
Thanks Brendon,
The current prop is 4 blade alloy 13.75 diamter 21 pitch with aftermarket blade tip cupping. The CFF4 is 14 diameter 21 pitch I hope as on some websites only listed to 19 pitch but on others 21 pitch. The current prop has 13% slip at WOT so hopefully can bring this down a bit and through getting the boat a bit higher out of the water get a bit more awesomeness. I might just bite the bullet and order one.
At 21 it would be too big at that diam, as my guess, 19 might be ok. An option would be SOLAS, who would have quite a few 4 bld options to suit, swap until you are happy.
Cheers
im now spinning a 13.75 x 20p mercury trophy plus 4 blade on my suzi 140. good holeshot and cruise with top of 69ks at 6250 WOT.
i looked at the powertech stuff but wasnt keen to take a gamble on it so i went merc instead
cheers ryan
