    Is this true??
How do they rust off if a fish is guthooked and released?
    Are they just 'expelled' somehow??

    Cheers then

Fish will die but your tackle box will remain clean. Stainless (depending on grade) does still rust but in most cases it's a bloody long process. Only thing I've seen stainless hooks used on is big game lures. Can't think of any reason you'd want to use them any way.

I use stailess hooks on my bait catching lines, they dont get used all that much and the cheaper hooks are rusted to bits when you next use them, also use stainless on trolling lures and a few other jigs too, the rust out if lost problem has been argued for years.

1/0 and size 6 hooks in my tackle box are ALL stainless steel,,,,

Stainless is not "Rust Proof" ,,, as its name suggests,,, it's Stain,,,Less,,, its still Steel,, but has a much higher resistance to Staining

place a staino in a bottle of salt water,,, easy test,,,
