Sorry , just re read this one
We were in about 400m so I am guessing 450 m or more by the time I had let it ride along the bottom for 5 mins or so.
    Cheers

I'm bringing up this old thread.
The date has been set. 27th August.
The tackle has been purchased. Big ass alvey. Powered by my big guns.
The boat is ready. 5.5mt tin can.
    The deckie has flights booked.
Bait used will be squid, mullet, soft plastics, prawns, snapper fillets.
    Marks have been aquired.
    Freezer empty for new fillets.
Cameras and sense of humor in order. ( defiantly need a sense of humor when embarking on a mission like this) And my deckie wanted to handline it. Silly prick.
    Let the good times roll.
Oh and last but most important. Band aid for the belly button so I don't get sick.... Phew thought I forgot.

I did forget that due to the shelf being closer from the gold coast and not having the issue some of you blokes have with big boats (must be compensating for something - Muddy Toes) i will be more than likely leaving from there. ( or heading to redland bay to pick up a big 24ft walkaround that i know the owner will be on the other side of the country)

Oh so the fairytale is becoming a reality?

Or is this Fairytale Chapter 2 ??

This trip has been more talked up than any GTG I have read on this forum - even making the bait versus plastics look like a short story unlike this encylopedia "Ooglies of the deep"

I have kept revisiting this section to see where you guys are up to with this. Hope you get out

And do better than a couple of tiddlie barra

May the weather Gods smile on you!
    Cheers

The fairy tail is becoming a cartoon and will hot a computer screen near you in the close future.
However this has to be one of the more entertaining threads on here of late.
Have you any plans for the 27th? Would you like to head out with us?

Thanks for the offer, but I can't make any plans for anything these days except what our oncologist says and plans change day to day. Missus and chappie really do need me about at the moment too.

I hope to get my tub back next week, but then get seats upgraded.

I will keep an eye on the weather and if a very calm and I mean VERY calm and flat time comes about I may at zero notice get out wide.

I am enjoying this thread though

I have been preparing for deep sea fishing have rod, reel, line and this weekend will do some rigs, gotta make up some weights from reo and zip ties.
    Cheers
