Fairy tales are shorter than this thread. But not as entertaining.
I think the major reason for all the talk and the lack of actually doing it is because one of the skippers has a job where he works away for 4 weeks at a time and when his 1 week of R&R comes around the weather is always crap.
But if the stars align and the said skipper is home with good weather then we're off!!!!
God knows we've done enough prep.
Same here more than happy to jump abroad with muddy but I won't be waiting if the weather is good when I get home. And being on a 3/1 it may be achievable sooner as I'm not going to Agnes in September.
Brendan,
If you don't mind me asking, what sort of dollars for the gear you were using?
Tony
No Worries Tony
TLD 50 2 speed about $400. Live fibre 24-37 was 300 odd, and 1500 yd 80 lb pwer pro slick braid about 250
Total from memory was a little over 900.
Throw in a harness and gimbal belt too!
Well done brendan, how much line do you think you had out compared to how deep it was?
Yeah I know cobiaman.
We only planned to hit the 42 fathom the first time we went out and there was zip there at the 42 so we sucked it up and kept going.
Just a mind over matter thing watching the land disappear but we had a brilliant day., just a bit distracting when you can see the bottom of the spool when your lines out on the gear we had.
We worked on the theory that if you locked up your reel the only time we would have a problem would be if the fish swam over the edge of the shelf as we just chased em around in the boat.
It makes a trip to the 32 fathom seem like a stroll to the front gate after going to the shelf
Good work TenzingSorry Gunna
cheers, steve
Has anyone actually got a km distance so I can work out fuel needed? Say leaving through the spb?
Is someone a little emotional. Don't be on the plane tomorrow night and no fish but it was a family day and didn't get the rod wet except when I dropped one in the ocean at the wrecks.
