Fishing is a no go for me this week my sister and niece get here monday night staying till Saturday morning. I have already informed them that I will be unable to see them off as i have a date with a fish on Saturday and I wouldn't want to stand them up. Cause I'm a gentleman like that.
Build up? its only 25 pages and still 6 days to go this will be the exciting week as we all start preparing. i have to learn to tie a FG knot. Have a cup of tea. swap the tackle in the bag for heavier stuff, test my new rod on a 20kg bucket of water. have another cup of tea.
Then on tuesday i have to perfect the FG knot.
Wednesday take my rod back to the store to show me how to tie the FG knot properly. may have another cup of tea. lucky i already made the chilli for the boys with all this work going on.
Oh and its got a bit of bite this one...
busy times....
bit of a late decision but i am out from this trip due to work however i will be back in about 3 weeks and plan on getting me one of these bad boys.. stay tuned....
Lucas, looking at the weather I don't think anyone will be heading out that wide this weekend. This is going to be one of these trips when you look at the weather and say lets go baby....

Actually guys, I am REALLY glad this has come up...
my normal fishing ground is between 60 & 100mtrs,
but once you get into the deep water, it's a different ball-game,
trying for it to not sound wrong,
but you need to be REALLY careful out there,
at the first sign that the weather/ocean is changing, you need to do a runner.
I was on the shelf one day, it was as flat as the sh!t -carters hat,
in the space of 30 mins the swells changed from ripples on the water to swells that were 30-40 feet thick at the base,& about 4 meters at the peak
thank god there was less than 5knts wind on the day....
I was SO concerned I considered cutting off 2 sets of gear
(about $250 worth), just so I could leave,
instead I wound them both up (my deckie on the day was "having a little sleep").
I found out later that a cyclone on the other side of the ocean had created these swells, but it wasn't included in the local forcast.
By the time I had come back in 12 miles to the 48 fathom mark, it was much better, but out there frightened the crap out of me.
Muzz
Unless the weather is good I don't think its practical to head out there for a first trip.
Its going to be a big enough challenge to find fish and then fish it anyway at that depth, without adding a few meters of sea and wind.
Cheers
Brett
