Yep at 400m the pressure is huge - things implode

I did read about a guy that lost a few on the electric reel where he kept them on using manual reel - not saying it is a hard and fast trend but . . . I don't see it has to be a sprint to the surface either - "tortoise and hare"

Have to admit there has been a lot of for very little fishing and I am sure the movies will show and some may even fancy themselves as a fishing show presenter which is all good until they eventually stuff it up and do a John West or similar But eventually someone will jag the dumbest fish from 400m and
    Cheers

So your saying the resemblance will be identical - like only their mother can tell them apart?

Hope you don't mind that we might be leaving them at the bottom !!

What rods you guys using, I am either going for to use a Wilson live fiber 15-24kg or my 450 Live Venom jig stick... not to sure which one will make lifting the fish up off the bottom the best, thinking the Jig stick but whats your thoughts.
Will be using 80Lb braid onto a 2 hook Pata rig.

    Cheers

The one guarantee I am prepared to make........

If the fish come up with big googlie eyes popping out of its head will definitely not resemble this New South Welshman.

    Just sayin.

Im using a alvey with a alvey rod not sure what it is as i just brought it for this adventure still at the shop getting spooled with about 1200yds 80lb. i gave a heap of gal bar to Bill he is getting welded as well. my rig was posted earlier but you will see on the day i reckon. i got a heap of 400lb leader for the hook side of things also got 120lb leader all black magic.
My thoughts forget the pat rig and add a knife jig and just jig for them would only have to jig 20mts of the floor.

    Re: Ooglies of the deep.

Lucee, your rods a bit light, need to weld 10 or 12 together to get enough weight.
We are using deck winches with 200lb braid, no mucking around with 24kg outfits.

Not a bad Idea to use a lumo jig but I am going to use Squid on the top hook and a thin strip of Mullet soaked in tuna oil on the bottom hook, Drop and hang ON... Nothing special, keep it simple stupid... That's my motto !!

Cheers and beers its Friday !!! (wahoooo)

I have cut some 32dia x 300 & 450 long reo bar for you as well its 2kg & 3kg. I just drilled a 6mm dia hole through the top.
I will get them to you guys before your trip.
    Cheers Brett

PS I will supply sinkers to both boats I don't want to hear the NSW boys winging about how they were robbed like they were after game 1
