Insulation to cover solenoid posts

Hi all. I want to cover solenoid posts. I could do starbrite paint on but had a feeling that you could buy flat sheets of sticky insulating material. Anyone know of any such beast? Cheers

How about getting some of the rubber boots that are used on battery terminals? You can get them in lots of different sizes and the cable goes through them so the won't fall off. If they slide on the cable, just put some heatshrink on the back of them to hold them in position.

I use the CRC battery terminal spray underneath them - leaves a grease / wax coating and stops the start of any corrosion.

Yeah. Heat shrink or plastic tube.
Over the lugs I usually put a piece of clear perspex or the like so nothing can get to them (I just drill some holes so the sheet goes over the terminal posts) and then that sheet is held in place with some snug fitting plastic tube over the terminal studs.

Why do you need to cover them?

Thanks gents. Some great ideas. Fed because the solenoid is located up about 5 in away from where your feet would go at the end of the v birth and while out the way I'm still concerned not to have possibility of short or shock if someone gets something metallic over the exposed posts. Cheers
