Hi All [again ]
The saga continues.I checked to make sure,I had power to my unit before I took it out for a quick test run,and low and behold no power.After scratching around for awhile I finally got p***ed off and connected straight to the battery to make sure it was wiring and not the unit,well bugger me if the unit turned on ok ..... but.... no light.....all functions seem to be working,the key pads light up but not the screen lighting,the unit is working{by torch light}
but I cant see a bloody thing tried adjusting the light but not happening.Have I finally killed this unit? Or is it fixable? Need help,please
By the way its an Eagle 642c combo.
Cheers,Gav.
Mind telling us what unit you have???..I have a Navman Chartplotter and its been doing a simmilar thing to yours though its been with my backlighting which seems to fade in n fade out and like yours when it fades out its bugger to try read!!??. Rang the navman techs and they inform me its on its way out!!. Coupla other mates had a simmillar unit and there's did the same thing only they died well before my unit. Think they got a tad over five years with their units which i think is P#ss poor but think they make em that way nowadays kinda stamped with aninvisible use by date!!..
Bought a new unit though a different model(Garmin) in the hope they last a tad longer??.
According to the Tech if you have your seriel Number, reciept n proof of purchase they will either dicount you another unit if five years or less or rebate you some $$ towards anothery after yours packs it in though you have to send your unit into them along will all reciepts ptroof of purchase etc.
And this is due to the fact they no longer may make ,service or repair particular models. Mine was the navman 5600 Tracker plotter and a top little unit whilst it ran/operated.
So, just maybe your unit may be on its last legs also by what you say??.. Ring the tech support ofparticular brand you have and they may give you a clearer picture and whats need to repair if repairable??..
Cheers n hope it only a hickup with yours ey..
PS my fifteen year old Eagle did simmillar thing one day and gone the next!!!at least i got 15 years out of that unit and it was spot on unit too though only a GPS without map..
Kinda sad when ones toys no longer wanna work or play ey??..
G,day volvo
Thanks for the reply.Mine is an eagle 642c combo.Its only about 3yrs old I bought it 2nd hand and it worked fine.My problem is I am sure ive done something when trying to sort out a wiring issue,power surge maybe.Any way I think im holding on to false hope, I was just hoping it was an easy fix.Time for a new one.
Cheers,Gav.
