It's a new 4.3m tinnie haven't been out in it yet prob just be going to dams and esturies Prob 5 or 6 hours at a time
At a minimum you would get away with a 20ah motorbike battery.
Best bet would be a standard type battery... something like the Exide MS450
It doesnt have to be deep cycle for what you are running.

In my tinny I am running sounder and lights on one wee 7ah and that has lasted 5 trips so far without charge two of those have had the lights on (old skool, not led) for about 6 hours total.
I have a separate 7ah for the bilge pump (or back up for when/if the lights kak out) and haven't had to run it yet.
I didn't think the battery would last as well as it has.
I was also told that the car or motorcycle batteries are not as good as they are designed for the initial power surge it takes to crank or start the engine.... interested to hear other peeps views on this though.

All your gear is LED which uses bugger all power... I would think the little 7AH battery would be fine for the normal fishing trips a fisho would do.. the issue I have is the bilge pump.. it is essentially a safety item and when the time comes that you hit the switch it is probably because you have water coming in and you want to get it out.. if you only have a small battery and it is half dead then you are in no mans land... is your tinnie electric start at all? If so you will have a battery there which will be fine to run all that stuff.. if pull start does the motor have a 12v charge ability? if so then you could have that wired to the small battery for charge when the motor is running.. that way even if you do have to run the bilge on a half sapped battery by starting the motor you essentially breathe fresh life into it for the bilge pump.
Other than that you have a descent sized boat so a "standard" sized marine battery would fit in no probs so it would just come down to price as even a smallish car battery size one will give you about 50AH

just work out how many amps all your lights and equipment draw then that will give u an idea as to what battery size u may want . e.g all ur led lights draw 1.5 amps then a 15 amphour battery will power these for 10 hours. also as said before if you have a pull start outboard then u can generally fit a rectifier to put some life back in the battery.
Hey I have an electric start and power tilt and trim 40hp merc I think it charges 11amp hr it came with an Apex calcium plus battery with 450cca don't think it's deep cycle so just wanted a second battery as a back up is it worth it

Dual battery is personal preference when it boils down.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with dual batteries (if the motor can be pull started) with what you have already and where your fishing.

Agree.. as I said before all your stuff is LED which draws bugger all power.. you could run your stuff for ages and not affect the start ability of that battery on a 40hp.. not mention as earlier that once the motor is running it is recharging the battery... even a short run will put a surface charge on the battery enough to run your electronics for ages.

7ah is good enuf, and have used in a similar ssetup for a while, but when it died i replaced with 24ah AGM SLA. Better if you ever need to use the bilge pump for longer. good for camping running lights fans etc.
