    GPS/Chartplotter picking up satellites

Hi everyone just got a question about my eagle intellimap chartplotter, It takes along time to pickup satellites some times 30-45mins and when it does it loses position and gains it again constantly, can anyone tell me if something can be done to fix this? Also is there any gps/chartplotters out there that pickup satellites fast? if so can anyone suggest any as i think i might need to upgrade to fix the problem unless someone knows how, i already checked and an external aerial cant be connected.

    Any info would be great

    cheers Mike

    Hi Mike,
Just check in the menu if WAAS is switched on?.
It stands for Wide Area Augmentation system and is available to to the US areas only. It uses a ground based reference to improve GPS accuracy.
My GPS did the same as yours as the system is constantly looking for a satellite thats not available here. Switched it off and problem solved.
Does it have a clear veiw of the sky?
    Cheers Mal.

just wondering if anyone else has problems getting a gps fix at fishermans island or in moreton bay? I fish mud island a fair bit and can never pickup any satellites, i turn on the gps at the ramp and it finds gps position when im near mud island but it keeps on losing and finding signal. Any ideas
