Entered the Toogoom fishing comp on Friday.
Went out to look in some areas in the local areas for some decent fish to enter in the comp.
Didnt have much success yesterday afternoon being land based.
Tried many areas.
After going home for a feed I packed up again & went to Maroom.
Thought it would be a good night being a full moon.
Arrived about 8:30pm & put on the waders then geared up for a session.
I was targeting whiting mainly.
Was using peeled prawns as bait.
Walked all around the area near the foreshore as the pontoon was packed out.
Just before 11 action started & I hooked up 3 whiting in 5 minutes.
Tried for another half an hour with no more hook ups.
Plenty of fish splashing around but there were no takers.
Called it quits then headed for home.
The whiting I caught was not even close to the heaviest one caught & entered which eventually won that class.
Left for Toogoom & arrived just before 11am for dead weigh in.
Put the whiting in the esky in the fourby after weigh in then found a shady spot to sit.
Plenty of shade was set up by the organizers of the comp.
The place was packed at 1pm.
Everyone got an entry number for the comp.
Mine was called out twice in the senior random draw.
First time I won a 100 piece Plano talke box, camp chair & $25 voucher for hervey Bay boat club.
Second time I won tow crab pots, floats, ropes, bait bags withe stainless steel securing pins & a jarvis walker fishermans filleting set.
Everyone was hanging around to see if they won the boat package.
If your number was drawn you had 60 seconds to claim your prize.
The day finished just after 4pm.
Had a good day & didnt go home empty handed.
Did anyone else enter the comp & go to the draw for prizes today ??
