Thread: Opera Pot Entry Size?

    Opera Pot Entry Size?

Just bought some more opera pots from bcf and found the entry size rings are 7.5cm (they look alot smaller!) when all my older ones are 10cm.

Qld is still 10cm ring size and I know nsw requires 9cm rings and have heard some other states require no bigger than 6cm.

When going from a larger ring has anyone noticed a reduction in redclaw/yabbie catching ability with the smaller rings?
Or is it all the same and just better for the ecosystem as less bycatch (like staged platypus photos ) etc or should I track down some 10cm versions?
    Cheers.

I always use the pots with smaller rings. Redclaw will leave the pot when the bait runs out, so smaller rings, and make sure they dont point towards the bottom helps retain them in the traps..
