    a day out

not much fish wise to report but had a great day out on the water, met wave dancer mick and partner fiona down the ramp at manly around 6.30...got the hurry up from mick as he was keen a to go..put the kc in the water and me deckie shane drove it off the trailor and picked me and the missus up from the pontoon...we had big plans of gettin a feed of whiting over the rous. we tried 4 or 5 spots to only find the dreaded grinners..about 8.30 i headed north to the sandhills for a troll session hopin to get a feed of macks..well they didnt play the game either but we did manage 4 banito ad a little tuna...rang mick and the still had nothin in the eski so we made plans too meet up again at the little ships club on straddie...a great place to meet up for some lunch and a nice cold beer....left there and mick put the throttles down on the little cat and hit warp speed 100 straight up...the poor old propulsion couldnt keep up even doing 38.9 knts was at full noise the whole trip back from the little ships club..was a quick trip home a great day out with good company....think i need a couple of 175 suzukies on the kc to give mick a run for his money
sorry no pics..tried the banito in the smoker, turned out well
    cheers rosco

    Re: a day out

Rosco i guess a couple of Bonito and a small Tuna is better than nothing

Good to hear you's had a good time even with the lack of fish caught. I'm sure Mick didn't care to much about catching anything, he would of just been happy to go for a run in his cat. Sounds like his cat goes like a scalded cat especially if propulsion couldn't keep up, might be time for two 300hp V8 four strokes mate

Did you's do anything to Mick's brother in laws boat ??

Also did you stock up on those Red Rock Deli Chips i told you about hahaha ??

    cheers tim

    Re: a day out

Steak sanga sounds alright, hope Mick had the chilli willy sauce on hand

Yeah his brother in law probably didn't sleep to well last night, think he called us coc#suckers about 10 times yesterday when we were winding him up about tampering with his boat hahaha.

Isn't Mick looking to name his cat ???

" Scalded Cat " would suit it by the sounds of it

    Re: a day out

We saw you over in the rous, I have never seen so many grinners. Over at peel we caught them too and they were all round 30-40cm and I didnt know the annoying things grew so big.

    Re: a day out

    Rosco,
Thanks for a great day on the water. Unfortunately we found nothing but grinners all through the Rous. The missus (Fiona) was having fun catching small squire near the wreck at peel, pity none were keepers. She gave each one a good talking to and told them to come back when they grow up lol. Was waiting for the famous Rex Hunt kiss but didn't happen. As you said the plan was for a bit of a fish and a social day with lunch at the little ships club. Lunch was good, nice food and the beer was cold. Was good to meet your deckie Shane. He's a bit of a character, easy going and funny as all f##k. The only reason it was a bit of a quick trip home was because the beers you shouted went down so well and gave me a taste for the coldies at home in the fridge. You will have to take my old cat for a run and open it up, power to weight ratio is spot on. It’s good to have the extra power there if I need it but I just generally cruise around the 30knt mark (ok 35 maybe). It definitely doesn’t have the comfort, fuel economy or the size of propulsion but the old girl suits us for now. It would hold its own up against most new boats of the same size and slightly bigger which isn’t bad considering its age. Most new boats wouldn’t last 33years, and keep in mind we only just replaced the original motors a bit over a month ago.

Tim D - I forgot the chilli sauce and had to settle for pepper gravy. You were spot on when you said about me not being worried about the lack of fish as it was good to spend a day on the water with Fiona and enjoy a good time and laughs with Rosco, his missus Erin and his deckie Shane. Thanks for the suggestion of a boat name, I like it but Fiona thought up the name “Reel Cat". Bit of a play on words and we will be getting it put on shortly. It’s not that I am too lazy or too busy drinking beer as Rosco mentioned but haven’t had the time to get it done. A fellow ausfish member Flatstrap has done us up a great design for the name; I just need to get the boat down to him for measurements and printing. I think you guys had the brother in-law a little bit worried about his boat as I know I would have been with some of the ideas and suggestions you guys came up with and the things you two wanted to do to it. I don’t think it will be anchored at the back of my place again if you blokes are around.

PS - I can feel a bbq and beers coming on very shortly.

    Cheers Mick
