    Mould on display reels

I have a timber display cabinet at home with some old reels and other old tackle. I've noticed there is mould starting to appear on the reels. What spray or preservative should I be using to stop the mould. From memory I cleaned them up with lanospray last time and only left a fine surface film.

Linseed oil is the gear they use on antique wood.

Add a few drops of kero to thin it up and apply with a cloth rag, rub off all the excess.

I am assuming they are wooden/brass reels.

Thanks for the replies Blooey and MRD. I have a mixture of reels, I will try the linseed on the old timbers ones. Oil of Cloves ordered and I will give it a go.

After cleaning it up, Get yourself some silica gel to absorb the moisture in the case. Just heat it up in a warm oven when it turns pink. Keep the oil up to the reels though, wouldn't want the dry atmosphere to affect them either.
