I have done a search on AUSFISH and everything is a few years old. I have been told VMR or CG do courses for your VHF licence. I cant find anything on Google other than private courses. I would prefer to spend my money with a volunteer organisation. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Did my VHF coarse at Bribie Island VMR around last Sept. Oct. , can't remember exact cost but under $160 I think, it was done on a weekend, 1 full day and about 4 hours next day and the test. You will need a passport sized photo and ID for the course test.
Contact your local VMR to find out when the next one is.

This is held at VMR Raby Bay and the next one is on June 3rd.
Give Coastguard Redcliffe a Call, there is one coming up in May 32055522. They are there during the week from 6am-9pm or 24 hours fri sat and sun(till 2100 close sunday)

to all the guys that have done this course ,have you applied for & recieved your MMSI number?
I noticed that some VHF radios have track your buddy if you have an MMSI number,
if so what brand of VHF DSC radio do you have?
