    Advice

    Hi All
Going up to FNQ boatless during winter and caravanning to places like 1770 and Hideaway Bay and Port Douglas. Other than the occasional boat hire...do I have any beach or shore based light spinning opportunities...? Not super fit anymore so real rockhopping not an option...know 1770 decent..what about the rest of the way up..? Grateful for any ideas either here or PM.....favourites are Flathead and Jacks I guess...yeah I know,...why are you taking the caravan and not the boat stupid....?

Try Molongel Creek, the turnoff is approx 35km north of Bowen. Has a small caravan park (not 5 Star). Should be ok for bream ,whiting and flathead and the odd mud crab.

Nice spot at Mourilyn Bay as well and a van park not far away on the beach.

If your going to be staying around Mackay for a bit then check out Dunnrock boat ramp. This is a never fail flattie spot. Fish off of the rock bar at the boat ramp at low tide. even get a few flounder around there too. the turn off is at Chelona, a few km south of Mackay.

    Good luck!
