    Re: Shimano Terez rods.

I just bought a 6""6""40-100lb fast action and wacked a shimano Torium 30 on it with 50 lb braid. They have fuji runners which are good quaility, although they look like their on back the front with their weird designed angle.Grips are good but I think the reel seat could be of better qauility for the price of them.Aint tried it out yet but up to fraser on saturday 4 a week should give it a good work out

Sambos. Very interested in how the rod goes up at fraser as that's where I will be in about 3 weeks time. Can you please let me know how the rod handles those big fish???

    Thanks

    Re: Shimano Terez rods.

I am not sold on the terez range as being a new concept. It's really just a rod with a slower action isn't it ? There are plenty of those already in the market at a much better price and not painted bloody white of all colours. I went through looking at a few rods for slow trolling pillies / livies using braid ( power pro or whatever it's all braid regardless of shimano marketing ) and in the end I went for a pflueger at nearly a third of the price albeit without the quality of components but still well good enough for the purpose. I see merit in slower action rods for use with braid but don't think the terez is the only rod that is suited for the job.

    Sambos.

That's us. Outstation is my mates boat. We are all from Toowoomba. I could'nt go last year but I've bought a business since then and so I can go. I'mm just looking for a rod for that deeper water bottom bashing.

I've got the 40-100lb rod with a talica 16 and 60lb braid. I THINK THEY MAY BE CURSED with bad luck as i have only caught one whopping great hammerhead on it so far. Felt really good though and knocked over the hammery quick smart.Ben

    Re: Shimano Terez rods.

My post of a 30lb Sambo caught first drop with my new Terez (40-100lb) is in the offshore reports yesterday. I dropped a slimie in 36 fathoms of water using 50lb braid, 120 lb leader and a 6/0 Gamie livebait hook on an old Penn GLS 45 O/H Reel. Drag was set at around 8-10kg. The rods action was superb for handling such a good fish. Never had to high stick it and the power of the rod worked beautifully with the slower action. The whole fight felt effortless compared to my T Curves (200 and a 400) that I use for Kingfish, Cobia and AJ's.
Cannot recommend it strongly enough and am looking at getting a lighter one for floatlining. The main purpose of buying the Terez is that I have a three day offshore trip from Mackay in July and I wanted to use a better bottom rod than my T-Curves on the coral sea reefies.
    Hope that helps.

    hey matt,
well back from Fraser and gave the rod a good work out.Not on any spieces i wanted to though.Sharks are horendous at present only gettin a handful of fish up a day.Sharked on the way up , Sharked lettin ya baits down, even got 1 on an x wrap trolling.also got several spainards. So the rod got a good work out and was impressed with it.I wouldnt say it was the be all an end all but it work well.If your willing to part with near on $300 go grab one youll be happy .

    Re: Shimano Terez rods.

Sambos. mate a t least you got out. A good mate of mine was up there the same time. Told us it's a bit tricky launching atm with next to no gutter. A few potholes down the beach. He had the big red vindicator. They build them. Watsons Marine. They did'nt get any shark problems at all but I suppose it depends on where you are. Thanks for getting back to me. Looks like there maybe a window open for us at the end of this week. We are lucky but, we can all go when the weather comes good.

    Thanks

    Re: Shimano Terez rods.

Met the boys up there . Top guys .They went a long way north for good results, did they tell why they found prawns to be good bait.We got in a bit of trouble crossin the bank one day and they gave us a hand puttin the boat back on which was much appriecated.Dont be in a rush to get up there with the big swells and no gutter as such.Have a mate still up there for another week with a boat, will let ya know if the gutter improves with the big seas and increasing tides.
    Cheers

    Re: Shimano Terez rods.

Sambos. Mate that would be great if you could give us a weather update. It looks like it's starting to come good by the end of the week (but who knows). About the prawns I don't know why they went to them. They usually use mullet and stuff but being local they are in the know all the time. Will have to hit him up for more info on that and get back to you.Mate if you want to call me with the weather info my number is
0418 155 204. I have a vip Lawn and garden business so if I don't hear the phone, leave a message and I'll get back to you asap.

    Thanks
    Matt
