    4.1m estuary boat project

    SAM_0736.jpgSAM_0730.jpgSAM_0729.jpghi all,

havnt been on for a while, been busy building a new boat,
long story short, want to build a tough and pSAM_0713.jpgractical estuary boat.
after a week or 2 searching i found the right base,a 4.1m boat, cosmetically a bit rough, but built tough and cheap.

Have spenSAM_0709.jpgt the last 2 weeks on it around work hours,so far about 40-50 hours or 4 bottles of jim beam, whichever way you look at it.

idea is all estuary workSAM_0699.jpg and including

    high sided tough boat

    Casting decks
    live bait well
    under floor storage for everything
    rod locker
    bow mount
    late model 40hp
    cheapSAM_0678.jpg

So far it owes me $2100 and thats with a rebuilt trailer in excellent condition

budget for motor will be around $2500

Will buy carpet this week, and am just waiting on a lot of stuff turning up from ebay like, switch panels, hinges, lights, live baits, bilges, speakers, stereo, etc etc

Will post a few more pics when im further along.

buggered up putting pics on,sorry bout that, hit a "īnsert line" tab

    hi all,

well another 2 weeks and a bit more progress, boat is 98% done, have now, laid all carpet, fitted all lockers, hatches, plumbed bilge and live bait tank, wired whole boat, fitted jensen cd player and boss marine speakers,12v plug, brought brand new marine battery, fitted switchpanel, buss bars, nav lights, anchor light, cabin lights, not much left now, just the front hatch door and anchor well left to do,Also just picked up a nice motor today,2002 yamaha 30Hp,100 hours or less use, looks immaculate, owned by a anal old bloke, paid $1425 for the motor ,all up boat owes me $4000 now.

A few questions,Anyone know what the plug on front of the engine does ,im hoping its a charge plug,What do i use to keep this engine looking new ? are car polishes/washes ok ?
and what petrol/oil would you run in it to keep it at optimal running performance ? and 1 last question,What pitch/size prop do i need for higher top speed ?

took the boat on its maiden last week, suprisingly quicker than i expected,Yammy 30 puts it up on plane from snap of the throttle and its hard to say,but id guess 30-40 kms hour. Its nice to have a reliable engine for a change.just a few more things now and shes done.also snagged a nice jew and flatty in the caboolture river.

I think you might find that the plug you are asking about is to connect to a battery so it will recharge it. I am not sure on the other questions you have asked here. But I would think you would get at least 40 kms out or a bit better of it at WOT.
    Cheers, Doug.

    great transformation adam!

interesting that you have elected to install your rod holder on top on everything on portside.

Have you compromised your fishing space at all using this idea?

Can you possibly post up more pics on rods sitting inside this rod holder?

As i am not clear how you are supporting the reel ends of these rods...

approximately how much weight will you be adding in this hull when finished?

I used to have one of those motors and from memory the eletric outlet was not to charge a battery but to provide some power to run navigation lights. I think it was only a low output sort of plug but if you Google it I'm sure you will find out for sure.

Hi SPD. I have the yammie 25 2 stroke. Has been a great motor. The alternator output is 12V - 6A. Would charge a small 12 volt battery I suppose. To be honest I have never even used mine.

    Cheers,
    Dan
