Probably not, even though your normal storage area might not be marked, the jackets are visible at the time they pull you up!.
Im sure those num nuts would still dish out a fine if you were even wearing them, arguing but where is the sticker???? Durrrrrrrrrr?!

Anyhoe, went into BCF yesterday to comply and get one of these so called safety stickers and they don't sell them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They even make it hard to comply, i spose they probably have not herd of the small chain called BCF! Thats because it's revenue raising.
Has any1 purchased1, if so where?

Some1 said send them out with the rego stickers... genius, genius, genius, BUT I don't think the overpaid government departments will!
I have emailed them and look forward to hearing from them in several years time!

I reckon it's nuts to enforce this rigidly on rec boaties.

Maybe if they are out of sight it makes some sort of sense, but mine are always in plain view and spread around and /or in the big orange grab bag that's on the floor near the seat.

And yet if I read the rules right I still need a sign ... How many signs and where?

In actual fact if I am checked by any reasonable copper I will be ok. But there's always an unreasonable stickler or two out there....

Then checked me out at deep water bend boat ramp the other week. They just told me about the new rules and gave me a sticker to put on the stowage area.

    Red and white either way.

I just sprayed a little red square and with a white paint marker printed life jackets

This is what I copied from the website

    "Stowage of life jackets
Stowage requirements for life jackets have also changed. Now, boat owners or skippers must give each person on board information about where the safety equipment is kept and clearly sign where life jackets are stowed. The labels must have the words 'life#jacket' in red text on a white background#or white text on a red background."

    Cheers

I dont understand the whingeing about these stickers. They made a law. Right, wrong or indifferent, you now have to have them. Bloody hell, just go get one or make one, and put it on your boat, it isnt rocket science. End of problem then.

I made my own - most of you guys have a PC I gather - design one youself, you can make around 4 or 5 on a page and print it out or if you haven't got a printer take it to some place like Office Works and they will probably charge you to print it and to laminate it shouldn't cost you more than $5 or $6 but you will get a number of stickers for your trouble. Add a little double side tape and problem solvered. Fortunately I have the gear so it was fairly cheap but I did make a heap for all my buddies.

Don't the signs have to be lit so the jackets can be found in the dark?
