Been spending a few nights chasing a critter like that. Very rare down here but they do exist I think. Well done!
Dave, great fish on light gear...and just after you cleaned the tub after last weeks big spottie
Tangles KFC
Good stuff DD, solid as fish... Its a team effort
I think I might have to start fishing one day soon, your welcome aboard my boat mate, good chance you will PB, everyone else does. LoL
Congrats guys. Solid jewy, i haven't got one over a meter for what seems like an age. Not for a lack of trying either! Cracker. Ben
Great report Dave and well done on an absolute corker!
Just as a matter of interest, what pound/type of braid and leader and what reel was being used?
Also, how long did it take?
My PB Jew was 20KG on a livie off the stones on 15kg and only took 5 mins with 2 good runs in it and plenty of scary moments around the rocks at times but there's nothing like nailing a big fish on really light gear.
Congrats to master and apprentice!
Ps. Don't you both love and hate it when that happens!!?? I take my brother in law from Sydney out each year when he's up for Chrissy and have taught him all he knows and he seems to nail the big ones on the placcies (and bait) nearly every time.
well done mate nice fish
GREAT FISH DAVE!! What pound line were you running mate. thanks for report.
Cheers Millsy
Rosco - please let me know when meet n greet is so i can meet the boyz and maybe show lucky off (he is the son of a trawler fishermen so he,s no slouch but a newby on plastics but he pulled a jew on his first cast of his new rod down the pin and hasn,t stopped with that 30 kilo plus long tail and that spotty last week) everything he pulls is 1.3 metres long so i am to afraid to take him flatty fishin lol.
nice one for lucky ! top fish.
Bloody nice fish there Dave, maybe me you and Netmaker should all go out together, how confusing would that conversation be....
Cheers
Bingo
wow, nice fish to your mate. well done
Malby, millsydude (LUCKY) was using 14 pound fireline which i always use (never braid) with my biminy twist and a 5 turn surgeons loop to the leader and loop knot to the jig of 40 pound leader as i told him to upgrade to hook huge snapper. He has started to buy his own plastics and jis but i still tie his leader but he does tie his jigs on now. Funny to him hook up every time and casual with the fight. He is calm and doesnt lock up or high stick which has helped in his fish. I hate to say it but every time he hooks up i am using another brand plastic to try as others are doing well with but every time the berkley wins for my boat anyway. I rarely get tails bitten off and i do loose them to big hits but part of my addiction is buying new plastics as i do have a few thousand on board just in case lol. We normally dont go over 20 pound leader but he was lucky he had the 40 as it would not lift for a good 45 minutes and only came up after holding spool and forcing him up. Anyho had a few rumby,s and nattering. Cheers DD.....
